Violet City Gym Leader.

Falkner is the young leader of the Violet City Gym, one which specializes in Pokémon of the Flying type. His gym is the first one the player encounters in Pokémon Generation II's Silver, Gold, and Crystal and Generation IV's SoulSilver and HeartGold. He has the lowest level Pokémon of any region gym leaders, including an underleveled Pidgeotto. His Pokémons' levels were increased in the Generation IV remakes.

Falkner is the successor to the previous Gym Leader, a man who also happens to be his father. He inherited from him both the gym itself and the Pokémon he uses in battle, and is proud of both of these inheritances. He is determined to follow in his father's footsteps and then surpass him. He is popular amongst the trainers in the Johto region for his appearance and personality, but he is often compared to his father.
